Mike Stewart and Bodysurfing

We apologize for the lack of posts, lately. If you are here reading this message then we are glad that you are still with us on this ride to provide some new videos or news or just anything regarding Wave Slide Culture.

We know that many posts by us tending to lean towards being bodyboard heavy, because that is what we know and tend to ride waves with the most. But when we look up to legends in the wave sliding community, they almost always take it back to one of the purest forms of riding, which is bodysurfing. In the video below, Mike Stewart explains the essence of bodysurfing and its pureness. So next time you're at your favorite beach break change it up and ditch your board, you never know it may help you understand the waves more and make you a better surfer down the line.

The King of Pipe? (2013)

Just ran into this gem of a video while browsing youtube. In 2013, the IBA held an expression session and invited wave riders of all forms to compete against one another to be the King of Pipe. Some big names were involved in the heat. Those that were invited included:

Bruce Irons -- riding a surfboard

Jamie O'Brien -- riding a surfboard

Mike Stewart -- riding a bodyboard

Jeff Hubbard -- riding a bodyboard

Kala Alexander -- riding a SUP board

Kainoa McGee -- riding a SUP board

Mark Cunningham -- bodysurfing

So stoked that it was the IBA that put this event on. Truly epitomizing WAVE SLIDE CULTURE! This expression session replicates what a normal line-up would look like and it's pretty cool to see it turned into a competition. What are your thoughts? Who do you think should've been crowned as the King of Pipe? And...do you think there should be more of these contests?

New Swim Fins

If you are in need for new swim fins or just looking to add some new fins to you quiver, then you are in luck. Three different brands are releasing either new colorways for their fins or they are just now releasing their new fin design. We are going to see new colorways from Ally Swimfins featuring their "Clark Little" editions which are a tri-color design with an added heel pad for comfort.

Viper Fins are releasing their latest fin design, MS Delta Viper, which features a now asymmetrical design.

Another swimfin that is going to be released soon is coming from the Hubboards camp, with their fin the "Air Hubb." This fin is also going to feature an asymmetrical design.

Modern Paipo

The legendary Mike Stewart with some modern day Paipo boards. Paipo boards were the ancient Hawaiian bodyboards. I'm sure Mike can rip these at Pipeline. That guy is a maniac.
