"The Kahekili tank. Black tank which features an all over graphic print of Kahekili (in white), the 13th King of Maui. At the time when Kahekili ruled Maui (along with Lanai & Molokai), his half brother ruled Kauaʻi, while Kamehameha controlled the Big Island. Fearing a takeover by the brothers, Kamehameha instead took his army to Maui, knowing that Kahekili had gone on to Oʻahu and left the island under the rule of his son. Conquering the island with a swift preemptive strike, Kamehameha then waited for Kahekili’s timely passing before he was able to conquer Oʻahu. Never defeated in battle, Kahekili was a true great chief of Hawai’i, and some historians suggest that though not the popular belief, Kahekili may indeed be the true father of Kamehameha." -Fitted Hawaii
