Spotlight Series: Omar Leon

This week's Spotlight Series feature is a wave rider from San Diego, California. Our featured Spotlight is Omar Leon. He is a wave rider that has continued the long list great wave riders that come from the city of San Diego. From all of the crew here at OkShoots we just want to say thanks for participating in the Spotlight Series and that please everyone enjoy our Q and A segment with Omar Leon.

Name? Omar Leon

Where are you from? South San Diego, California.

What got you into the sport? Our older brother Javier, I thank him for finding an outlet for us.

How long have you been wave riding? I was blessed to have started at the age of 6...going on 27 years now.

Amateur or Professional (Prone, Dropknee, Surfing, Surfmat, Bodysurf, etc.)? I like it all, haha. As long as it involves surfing it doesn't matter what we are riding. It's definitely for the soul, it's what I come to terms with. Amateur for life!

What's your go-to board size and shape in any condition? I have a few shapes Pete Anaya @ PMACustoms magically creates for me whenever a trip is in order or any 42" stock Hubboards boards :)

Favorite Board Color Combo? Got to have Blues, reds, blacks, whites or greens.

Favorite Breaks (Can choose not to disclose or not reveal locations)? Any spot that's got a good vibe. Even the closest brake can be darn good but the vibes sometimes out weigh the conditions. Anywhere from Blacks beach to Baja Norte you will find me on the regular.

Any words of advice for up and coming wave riders? Clean up your beaches and always remember to smile in the line up. We must make sure the craft we all love can be shared continuously through the generations to come

Shout outs/Sponsors? The Surf Hut Imperial Beach, PMA Customs, The Hubboards family, OKShoots Crew, HCW and everyone else who has had my back since day 1.
